Re: Seattle Live Event 2019?

I'll be on terminal leave awaiting official retirement. Since I live in Seattle, count me in.

Teamspeak Coordination Channels

Teamspeak is an incredibly valuable tool, however, I'd like to point out a couple things which should be common sense: - If a controller is sitting in the channel they are actively controlling (i.e. if I'm working Center and am in the Center Teamspeak Channel), that is not an open invitation to othe...

Re: KSEA BRAVO AIRSPACE TRANSITIONS

Not sure why IFR traffic would be requesting to transit through the Bravo... But anyway... The VFR transitions were created years ago, well before the Seattle airspace redesign in 2012. Up until last summer (when I moved back east) when I was flying out of BFI and RNT, they were not being approved. ...

Re: vATIS

I hate to necro a thread, but a question on the new version of vATIS. Back when I had fewer gray hairs and fewer gin & tonics under my belt, I remember with vATIS you could bring up a window and select (via checkbox) what NOTAMs you wanted, along with what runways were in use. Is that no longer a fe...

Feedback

The feedback page off the main ZSE site is broken, so I’ll leave this here.. Tonight I flew KONT to KBFI.. then solely to screw with Don… Flew KBFI to KSEA in a B744. The entire experience was awesome! vZSE did a phenomenal job this evening, and the way you sectorized S46 really showed your planning...

New Green Blip Battle Station

So, after coming back from a 6 month deployment to the wife wanting to move to another place in the area... finally about 80% done with the move (finish next week). Got my new ATC station setup in the new place. I'll admit I went overboard on the lights (which was a pain to sync to audio). For those...

Bumping this as it's still very relevant (and cool to watch).

Free Monitors

Anyone in the Seattle area that could use a couple free monitors? I've a couple (2) old BenQ BL3200PT monitors that I'm looking to get rid of. Before I go to Craigs List, or donate them, figured I'd offer them to ZSE members first. They're free. Only conditions are you have to be in the Seattle area...

Re: Getting back into the cockpit...

A little Honolulu action...

Our first stop of the trip was in Honolulu. Setup the opportunity to rent a a twin (Seminole) for a flight around the island:

Re: Getting back into the cockpit...

Fantastic video Dan. Sure seems a lot going on above your head in that cockpit! What a thrill. Thanks! Yeah, it was definitely different with the props/throttles in the overhead (along with the engine gauges). Also, the trim wheel is at the base of the pilot's seat. So trying to make trim adjustmen...

Getting back into the cockpit...

Now that I'm back from deployment, going to head back over to BFI and get back up into the air. I've missed flying in PNW, but that's the job.. Anyway, this summer I had an incredible opportunity to fly a Goose. Here's a video of my first time landing one in Lake Hood. I had so much fun, going to tr...

S46

Plugged into S46 tonight for the first time in awhile. I'm normally a CTR guy... Anyway, after shaking the rust off, dug up something I created for vZSE awhile ago. While KSEA only had 2 runways, and some of the procedure names/phraseology may have changed, still foundational. Thought I'd share.. ht...

Re: Coming Soon: New Center Splits for Events

Excellent proactive approach to sectors for a specialized (and needed) requirement! Given the amount of traffic that a major event shoves down a facility's throat (with no commensurate level of staffing), good outside the box thinking.
