Re: AUDIO DEVICES

Many times for me, my windows occasionally renames the USB headset or other type of input devices to new names then renames them back, no solution for you though I just check every session.

Re: Portland Departures

Definitely avree, equally for Seattle aircraft should be on SEA7 unless on a pilot nav or RNAV procedure.

Re: KPDX v KSEA

As long as an aircraft makes it to the departure gate you can turn left over BFI to get it there (being mindful of aircraft on MARNR downwind which isn't used that heavily even in real life), and it definitely is a great noise technique. Like it.

Re: CIRCLING

What Frank said, MSA circle on chart has zero significance to an ATC, it is only for a pilot in case of lost coms from ATC in an emergency, again it's the minimum safe altitude when you don't know where you are at. We have MVA, MIA and MEA for that. It's an understandable misunderstanding but we hav...

Re: Positive Separation

Definitely agree Mike, very over dramatic note, separation is a common sense topic, at least for me. If I give a guy "descend via" and see that another aircraft may cross his path, I will monitor the situation and restrict the aircraft as needed as they converge, usually requiring no changes as lega...

Re: PDX SOP_100

Yes, so I answered the question? As for access to them you gladly can FOIA them through appropriate channels. I understand I could say the sky is blue and I'd get a response it is red. I have nothing to add.

Re: PDX SOP_100

Peter thanks for your input, however it seems we were more discussing SOP at PDX, then controller best practices. Personally I follow the 7110.65 and use MVAs, MIAs, and real world SOPs to provide real world experience that most pilots get a kick out of as well. But I digress...

Re: PDX SOP_100

Yes I can, and the reasons I gave above are major reasons. I understand that as a tower rated controller you don't understand all the points Im making regarding airspace but as someone who has FOIAed the SOPs more than once, and controlling this airspace since 2006 I'm not just throwing some random ...
