Re: WINDOWS 10 v WINDOWS 7

I can say I have not had any issues like these discussed in any of these posts. I'd say that Windows 10 doesn't agree with something on your machine...not sure what it could be, though.

Re: KPDX v KSEA

This is a good point, Peter. Frank hit's the nail on the head (like he usually does... ). During my training through the ranks (although at that time, "climb via SID" probably wasn't even a thought yet..) my instructor and mentor made it a little easier to grasp for me. He always insisted tha...

Re: KSEA BRAVO AIRSPACE TRANSITIONS

Thanks Dan Sometimes, we get a little C172 with a filed IFR FP from A to B via SEA. Sounds silly, but it happens and they want clearance thru the Bravo N/S or S/N. Same goes with VFR A/C. The strangest thing I get is a B747 flying IFR from KBFI to KSEA!!!! We don't get paid enough on this job! When...

Re: Quote Wall

Well, we always have those challenging pilots during FNOs....and HCF's FNO was no different! I was working HNL_APP all by myself (cue the music....) and a pilot decided to challenge me: Situation: I asked the pilot if he could perform the DME ARC on the ILS Y 4R into HNL. He replied in a very nasty ...

Re: RAISE YOUR ANCHOR!

Anchors are nice! I use them on the enroute level to ensure separation! Example: Using an anchor on two aircraft on the HAWKZ arrival to ensure they won't cross VASHN at the same time.) It helps!

Although I am a visitor, I would 1000000% attend!

Unless, that is....Home controllers only ;)

Thanks!

HCF FNO 28DEC18

Hi guys! I wanted to take the time of this thread to remind y'all of the visiting controller LOA that Aaron and I put together! ZSE Home Controllers with an S1 rating or higher are eligable to control ANY position up to their current rating, minus Major Airports. If you are looking for Major certifi...

Re: VRC - AIRCRAFT INFO

Hi Peter!

There are two reasons why I would say you are getting this message:

1) The pilot did not file a correct aircraft code
2) The pilot did infact file a correct one, however the database is out of date.

In my expereience, it is usually option 1...

Re: UNICOMM

Just to clarify, do NOT PRIM on unicom. That will then enable a voice unicom...and...well, no..

So just click "RX HDST or SPKR" depending on your settings..

thanks!

Re: TEMP ALTITUDE

Thanks Dylan - that's exactly what I would expect. But, it still remains a mystery why a CTR controller would put a temp alt of 7000 into a RNAV arrival and at a handoff of 12000 at Hawkz? Ah well - life is still full of mysteries! Indeed...I would just ask him, next time, if it happens again. Just...

Re: TEMP ALTITUDE

So, here is a scenario:- I am controlling SEA_APP, Fred is controlling SEA_CTR. Pilot A is an arrival on the RNAV STAR HAWKZ (and he can fly it) Fred hands off Pilot A to me at Hawkz with a hard temp altitude of 7000 in the box. I also have a departure Pilot B. His route takes him to cross Pilot A ...

The “Black Arrow” scenario.

I was wondering about the “Black Arrow” instruction on the charts v “Climb runway heading” for departures.

Do the pilots follow these instruction (“Black Arrows”)?

Could be an interesting discussion

Hi Peter,

The C3/INS is 100% correct.

Happy Controlling!

Re: TEMP ALTITUDE

I was having a discussion with another Controller with respect to the Temp Alt function. I was trained to set a Temp Alt (in VRC - right click data tag (or F8)- select the temp alt for which I have last instructed the pilot to descend to). That lets me know (and if there are any other controllers a...
