This is a great video for the S46 TRACON controllers. Really helps to get that real world feel to your comms.

Bumping this as it's still very relevant (and cool to watch).

Re: This is just mesmerizing!
The only problem I have with this, and other types of real world examples is – the APP controllers only have to manage approaches to their single airport, and sometimes as the Final APP controller!. They do not have to handle all approaches/departures/VFR/IFR and pattern works for all airports in their Tracon. They do not have to handle DEL/GND/TWR/DEP concurrent with their APP duties
Don't get me wrong - I also think that this is amazing and mesmerizing and I often watch it so that I can learn from it.

OK – this is the UK London Heathrow (EGLL)
Notice the differences (UK v USA):-
• Initial contact = reduce speed. This is a good strategy to maintain complete balance throughout the Tracon (USA term).
• The London Control (CTR) is placing the arrivals into a hold N/E
• Absence of a PTAC
• The “creeping” vectoring techniques – not much direct turns onto base leg
• The initial contact also verifies the distance from touchdown and RWY in use
• The final turn to ILS varies (20 degs – 30degs)
• Once established – reduce speed again – then hand-off to TWR at same point nearly every time
• The final reduction in speed is qualified by e.g., 160k – maintain 4 dme
• Real World APP controller only handling approaches from North/South
Also, they use the MLS
I enjoy watching and listening to these professionals
