Seen today over the skies of ZSE in a flight plan that was not over thought by the person piloting his computer:

"using fsx freeware scenery for departure airport and payware for arrival airport. Aircraft type A320 Jetblue. Navigtion equipment being used-GPS. Please do not ask me to change my flight plan route unless its an emergency or posses a threat to other traffic. After take off i would like to proceed on my course. thank you. /v/"

He was an Airbus 320 Heavy without an equipment suffix. Preferred routing, not withstanding. The asylum has been taken over!
KSEA TAOMA SUMMA POWEL LKV HARTT PYRAM FMG TILTS SONNY TIOGA PINNI EHF LANDO LAX OCN BADME KSAN I couldn't help myself. I had to add the flight plan route!
This is an actual clearance from ATC. SUMMA1.LKV FMG J5 EHF GMN HUULK.COMIX2. Ahhh the simplicity!

This stuff always happens to me on the graveyard Seattle Center shift....

NWA###: SEATTLE CENTER DO YOU HAVE VANCO
SEA_CTR: NWA###, lol, what?
NWA###: CYVR
SEA_CTR: NWA###, What are you asking?
NWA###: NEVERMIND
SEA_CTR: NWA###, bet.

Now I knew he was asking me if I controlled Vancouver......but I wanted him to use complete sentences...

How many STUDENT pilots fly 727-200s? Just curious. Since when did VATSIM have a category for student pilots? Asking for a friend.

The only thing I would assume is the P ratings that pilots get when they join an ATO. I know ZLA used to 'host' the exams by the pilot notifiying the controller that they are performing their (for example, P1) rating checkride.

Could be wrong, however..

From tonight with a ZSE Controller who was the pilot with me on Approach at KPDX.

Observed aircraft told to d/m 3k at 500 ft and was asking to go to the visual approach just before this.

ATC: ASA69P, you're currently showing 500ft, caution terrain, recommend you climb immediately. Airport is to your 1 o'clock in 12 miles, report in-sight.
ASA69P: I have the airport insight
ATC: ASA69P, confirm you have runway 10L in-sight?
ASA69P: ummmm.... I have terrain in-sight
ATC: ........ laughs hard off frequency.

Well, we always have those challenging pilots during FNOs....and HCF's FNO was no different! I was working HNL_APP all by myself (cue the music....) and a pilot decided to challenge me:

Situation: I asked the pilot if he could perform the DME ARC on the ILS Y 4R into HNL. He replied in a very nasty tone "My plane will do whatever I want it to" I replied, Awesome! After seeing the pilot in fact did not fly the DME ARC, and proceeded DCT to the airport after the IAF, I cancelled his approach clearance because he was about to cut off 4 other airplanes that have been holding for quite a while in the enroute sector..

Me: UPS1026, cancel approach clearance, fly heading 150, climb and maintain 5,000.
UPS1026: Are you kidding me? WHY?
Me: When I asked you if you could fly the DME ARC, you said "My airplane will do whatever I want it to". I then cleared you for the full ILS Y rwy 4R, and you read that back...but you didn't actually do it. Expect vectors for sequencing.
UPS1026: Well next time be more clear, turning to 150 and up to 5,000 for another hour of flight.
Me: UPS1026, I certaintly do not have the time nor the patience to argue with you now, you have a pen and paper?
UPS1026: All good pilots do.
Me: Roger, my name is Dylan Lundberg and my phone number is (proceeded to give UPS1026 my mobile number) give me a call in 2 hours when I can tell you how to how to read an approach plate.
UPS1026: Will do.

He called me 2 mins later (while I was vectoring him) to tell me that he was wrong and he is sorry, but he couldn't let his wife hear that he was wrong...because in his house, he is always right...

Overseas pilots

Why do I get an awful lot of overseas pilots? Must be because I control at some different time zones?

"Rqseeut crnaeclae to Fnurrkfat Ianneorittanal Ariorpt via the Sletate dreuptrae dciert Aslpe at tthriy-fvie tnhaoasud feet wnaiitg for swqauk cdoe and rauwny to dreapt I have qbeeuc "

I had to respond - "I du no sepak Egnislh sow, I wlil txet you"
