Portland Departures

Post by Mike Fries » Thu Aug 01, 2019 5:58 pm

Unless flight plan remarks say No Charts or No SID/STAR...

Aircraft that do not file RNAV departures should be given the Portland (#) departure, then as filed.

The description of the procedure says to expect radar vectors to assigned route/fix so you do not need to state this in the clearance.

Filed first fix/navaid need not be shown on the chart these are just examples of the possibilities.

Definitely avree, equally for Seattle aircraft should be on SEA7 unless on a pilot nav or RNAV procedure.

Also note that the Portland DP says "thence on assigned heading" so TWR needs to assign a heading with takeoff clearance.

Good catch Mike I never noticed that, initial heading is only for ODP likely...

We also discovered from Mike's friend who works at PDX TWR real-world that the assigned altitudes should be the following and that our SOP is indeed out of date.

Small single prop = 3k
PTLD1 = 6k
SID's = 7k

Interesting. Will our SOP_100 be changed?
